The Confucius Institute at Burapha University was established in collaboration with the Whenzhou Medical University and Wenzhou University on April 5, 2006. On September 15, 2009, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand, unveiled the institute personally.
The number of teaching spots was increased to 18 (including 6 university teaching spots, 2 Confucius Classrooms and 10 teaching spots in middle and primary schools). Successfully completed the plan was made at the beginning of the year. The provinces with teaching spots increased to 5 in Chonburi. The number of students grew from 10322 to 16033, about almost 55% increase. The total number of hours was 12002, the same as in 2016 and the students from community would still be admitted to Confucius Institute for carrying out the training of Chinese and Chinese culture.
On the basis of Chinese Teaching and cultural exchange, the institute actively promotes the traditional Chinese medicine culture. It is the first Confucius Institute in Thailand that is featured in introducing traditional Chinese medicine culture on the basis of promoting Chinese language culture.
